Plot

Everyone calls her Bambola (“Doll”), but her name is Mina. Her mother owns a restaurant in Comacchio, habitually frequented by truck drivers. Bambola has a gay brother whom she loves but who does not have a good relationship with their mother. When their mother dies in a tragicomic circumstance, they decide to turn the restaurant into a pizzeria. The seed money to make the changes is given to them by Ugo, a banker in love with Bambola but who tragically dies. When Furio, an ex-convict, insinuates himself into Bambola’s life, they enter into a tumultuous sexual relationship.ù

Review

Valeria Marini has become almost a symbol of the loving relationship Bigas Luna has for Italy. For him, her beauty is “generous, great, spectacular.” When it comes to Italy, Luna loves above all the excess, the passion for food, for sex, for drama.
