The undesirables Gli indesiderabili
Plot
1951: New York begins a celebrated trial of a large group of Italian-Americans accused of belonging to the criminal underworld. Not able to prove their guilt, the court brands them as “undesirable” and condemns them to repatriation to Italy; 120 end up on a ship bound for Genoa, where two weeks later they are welcomed by a crowd of journalists, photographers and curious onlookers. Giancarlo Fusco is there to write a piece for Il Secolo XIX and begins to interview the “undesirables”, including Ezio Taddei, anarchist and a former schoolmate. The article becomes an investigation.
